Get ready for a blast from April, now arriving in May! Our newsletter is packed with exciting updates and heartwarming celebrations you won't want to miss.
Welcome to our April edition of our monthly newsletter (now arriving in May!) – brimming with updates and heartfelt celebrations. Let's dive right in and start by planting some seeds of joy for Earth Day! This month, we got our hands dirty and hearts full by participating in gardening at a local community garden in Third Ward. It's all about giving back to Mother Earth and nurturing our community in which we live and serve!
Also, this month, we have some extra special news to share: Drumroll, please... We're thrilled to announce the grand opening of our new office location in San Antonio, Texas! It's a monumental milestone for us to open our second office, and we're beyond excited to extend our reach and continue delivering excellence across the Lone Star State.
Now, let's raise a toast to some remarkable milestones within Hollaway:
First up, a heartfelt salute to our Chief Operating Officer, Claire Garvin, who is celebrating an incredible 8 years of dedicated service at Hollaway. Your leadership and commitment are the cornerstone of our success, and we're grateful for every contribution you’ve made.
And speaking of celebrations, let's not forget to send warm birthday wishes to our Chief People Officer, Jennifer Smith! Here's to another year of making magic happen!
This month, we are also giving a thunderous round of applause to our beloved Art Director, Greg Sevcik, who was recently honored with “Volunteer of the Year” at the FIRST Robotics Competition. Your passion for giving back and inspiring others is truly remarkable, and we couldn't be more proud to have you on our team. And, speaking of FIRST Robotics, we also had the privilege of volunteering at the competition and participating in the “FIRST Like a Girl” panel. It was an incredible opportunity to connect with young girls, encourage them to pursue STEM, and ignite their passion for innovation.
Scroll down to read more from Environmental Services Director, Ally Altemose, who has penned an insightful blog about navigating regulatory changes. And, last but certainly not least, we're thrilled to introduce our inaugural DEI & B newsletter, dedicated to promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging within our organization and beyond.
So, grab your party hats and read on for a month filled with adventure, celebration, and making a difference together!
Cheers to progress and possibilities!

We are thrilled to announce the opening of our new office in Central Texas! We couldn't be more excited to extend our presence into this vibrant region. This expansion marks a significant milestone for us, and we are eager to bring our expertise and services to the Central Texas community. With our dedicated team and commitment to excellence, we look forward to serving the needs of the Central Texas region. Thank you for your continued support, and we can't wait to embark on this new journey together.
In honor of Earth Day, our dedicated team rolled up their sleeves and spent the day nurturing a vibrant garden in the heart of Third Ward. With each plant we tended to, we felt a sense of connection to the earth and a shared mission to preserve and protect our environment. It was a day filled with hard work, but the beauty and tranquility of the garden served as a reminder of the importance of caring for our planet.
As we settle into a new year, Hollaway is proud of the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Belonging (DEI&B) efforts made by our team and the strides we have made to integrate and highlight the importance of DEI principles into our internal practices with the aid of Insperity’s DEI consultants. Team members who have dedicated their time to DEI have been working closely with our Professional Employer Organization (PEO) to develop our 2024 initiatives, identify future meeting topics, and to ensure that our goals are aligned with DEI values and Hollaway’s Strategic Growth Plan. By leaning away from giving quarterly general information sessions on DEI-centered topics, Hollaway has re-strategized our inclusion efforts by frequently conducting surveys for focused feedback on our company’s culture and internal processes. This has helped ensure that the brainstorming and work product for Hollaway’s inclusion efforts is based on our employees’ concerns and ideas. This also allows the feedback we obtain from team members to dictate what DEI&B education topics we will focus on and what opportunities for improvement we can identify as an organization.
In the dynamic landscape of environmental regulations, adaptability is key to overcoming challenges. The aftermath of the Sackett v EPA decision in May 2023 exemplified this truth, posing significant hurdles for our clients. The ripple effects were felt deeply, with projects stalling as Approved Jurisdictional Determination (AJD) requests languished while awaiting clarity from US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) headquarters. Despite receiving guidance in September, progress remained stagnant.
Our knowledgeable and inspiring staff participated in the "FIRST Like a Girl" Panel Discussion, where they shared their experiences and insights on the importance of diversity and inclusion in the workplace. The Hollaway representatives at the event highlighted the invaluable contributions of women in STEM fields, inspiring high school students to pursue their passions and consider a future in these innovative and impactful industries. Our team dedicated the morning to encouraging and empowering the next generation of female leaders to break barriers and make their mark in the world of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
Congratulations, Greg!
We are thrilled to announce that Greg Sevcik, our talented Art Director, has been recognized by FIRST in Texas for his outstanding dedication and volunteer work. Congratulations, Greg, on this well-deserved honor!
