I am so excited for the new year ahead. At Hollaway, we kickstarted January with our monthly celebrations, including Taffy and Trevor’s employee anniversaries, as well as four team member birthdays (Happy birthday again to Taffy, Sam, Thom, and Rosie!!). Additionally, we are thrilled to announce Alina Velasquez’s promotion on Hollaway’s Creative Services Team! We invite you to keep reading for more!
In this month’s newsletter, you will also find a new blog post written by Hollaway’s Communications Services Manager Connor Stokes. Connor discusses the importance of effective communications in environmental work and expounds upon the overlap between our three service lines here at Hollaway, environmental, communications, and creative services.
In celebration of my 17th year at the company, I was featured for this month’s “Hollaway Employee Spotlight.” If you’d like to learn a little more about my professional journey from an associate-level employee to company owner and CEO, I encourage you to read my story below.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read our monthly newsletter, and – on behalf of the entire team – we look forward to working alongside, collaborating, and winning with you this year!
With love, gratitude, and a whole lot of joy,
Leslie
Big news on the horizon – Hollaway is turning 30! Can you believe it? It’s been three decades of hard work, innovation, and building something truly special together. It's a milestone worth celebrating, and we're gearing up for a year of looking back, appreciating how far we've come, and setting the stage for an even brighter future.
Now, why have we branded our 30th anniversary with pearls, you ask? Well, pearls are the symbol of 30 years, representing wisdom acquired through experience. Just like a pearl, our journey has been about embracing challenges, evolving, and coming out stronger on the other side. Each year has been a layer, and the whole necklace is a beautiful testament to the resilience, brilliance, and enduring elegance of Hollaway.
So, get ready for a year of festivities, reminiscing, and, of course, setting sail into the next 30 years of excellence. Here's to the pearl in our story!
New Beginnings. Fresh Vibes. A Whole New Chapter.

In the realm of environmental compliance, communication stands at the core of ensuring responsible decision-making — facilitating awareness, collaboration, policy development, and overall progress toward a more sustainable and resilient future. A cornerstone of this decision-making process is the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). Communication plays a pivotal role in shaping policies, fostering public involvement, and ultimately steering the course toward environmentally responsible actions.
We are excited to shine a spotlight on Leslie Hollaway, the visionary behind Hollaway Environmental + Communications Services, Inc. Leslie began her journey with the company now known as “Hollaway” over 17 years ago… In 2007, Leslie was hired as an associate-level communications specialist to support the METRO Solutions Light Rail Transit Expansion. Leslie spent the first few years of her consulting career focused on community outreach and education related to METRO’s mass transit services throughout Harris County. During this time, she was granted the opportunity to build a community outreach department within the company that was previously focused on environmental services only. And – believe it or not – one of Leslie’s first hires was our award-winning Art Director Greg Sevcik (who recently celebrated 15 years with Hollaway!).

From intern to Creative Services Assistant, Alina Velasquez's time at Hollaway has been a valuable learning experience. Here's a glimpse into what she gained during her journey!
Through her internship at Hollaway, Alina learned to hone her communication skills by interacting with clients and gained a firsthand understanding of professionalism with clients. She also learned firsthand how to conduct a professional photoshoot and how to collaborate effectively across different teams.
Alina has gained confidence in working independently and enhanced even more of the design techniques she’s learned in school. We are excited about the things Alina has learned through her internship process and anticipate even more growth in her new role as a Creative Services Assistant. Congratulations to you, Alina! We are so proud to have you!
