Hi Valued Customer,

CEO Header - 2024 Hollaway Highlights

Happy June, everyone!

I hope that this finds you hydrated and happy as we roll into summertime!  At Hollaway, we have had A LOT to celebrate – as always!

From conducting wildlife surveys in Orange County and hosting creative brainstorming sessions for stateside clients to honoring Juneteenth and participating in Houston’s PRIDE events, our schedules have been packed with all kinds of fun!  I invite you to scroll down to read more about our recent work representing the West Harris County Regional Water Authority at the Association of Water Board Directors conference, as well as call-response surveys for the federally listed Eastern Black Rail on behalf of the Gulf Coast Protection District.

Additionally, our Office + Human Resources Coordinator LaDaja Dunn is highlighted this month in our Employee Spotlight! While LaDaja does not get to coordinate externally often with our clients and colleagues, she is quite literally the glue that holds our team at Hollaway together. I’m thrilled she is sharing more about her role with you in our newsletter this month!

Finally, we have two major celebrations that cannot be overlooked! Hollaway’s Communications Services Manager Connor Stokes and Financial Manager Trevor Pattillo celebrated  June birthdays, and Chief People Officer and Owner Jennifer Smith celebrated 8 years with Hollaway! Hip hip hooray!!!

Here’s to hoping you continue to have a safe, healthy, and vibrant summer season!

With deep gratitude to each of you,

Leslie

Join us in celebrating Juneteenth, a significant day in American history that marks the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in Texas on June 19, 1865. This date symbolizes freedom and resilience, representing when thousands of individuals finally learned of their liberation, two years after the Emanicipation Proclamation. Let us commemorate this important milestone and honor the legacy of Juneteenth, a day that signifies the triumph of hope and the enduring spirit of African American culture. Explore the historical significance of Juneteenth at the National Museum of African American History and Culture.

This month, Hollaway is spotlighting our Office + Human Resources Coordinator LaDaja Dunn. As a pandemic hire in August of 2020, LaDaja’s initial goal in joining the Hollaway Team was to absorb as much knowledge as possible about her new role, while establishing solid professional experience as an administrative professional. Over time, LaDaja’s role has expanded to include office management and Human Resources coordination, making a significant impact and contributing to the company's success.

West Harris County Regional Water Authority

Our dynamic duo, Amiah Williams and Blythe Payne, traveled to Fort Worth earlier this month to represent our wonderful client, the West Harris County Regional Water Authority, at the  Association of Water Board Directors Conference. Armed with a wealth of knowledge and a plethora of branded swag items, they captivated conference attendees with their expertise, shedding light on the invaluable work of the West Harris County Regional Water Authority.

Call-response Surveys for Eastern Black Rails

Over the past couple of months, the Hollaway team successfully completed USFWS-compliant call-response surveys for the federally listed, threatened black rail (Laterallus jamaicensis) to support efforts being led by the Gulf Coast Protection District. This was an excellent opportunity for Hollaway’s biologists to support on of our region’s largest infrastructure projects!

Evelyn Ware Math and Science Camp

Not only did the Hollaway team generously sponsor and dedicate their time to the Evelyn Ware Math and Science Camp, but they also went above and beyond to create a memorable experience for all 125 participants. By providing nourishing breakfast and lunch, they ensured that young minds were fueled and ready to immerse themselves in a day filled with hands-on experiments and engaging educational activities. The commitment to fostering a love for math and science in these aspiring learners truly made a lasting impact.
